Madame Chouette

Betsy Lanning crafts distinctive, colorful pieces that celebrate both whimsy and elegance, and marry organic forms with ethereal designs. Betsy’s artistry is inspired by the beauty of nature, folk stories, mythology, and fairy tales, as well as her experiences traveling across five continents and having lived much of her life in countries such as France, Paraguay, Egypt, Algeria, Saudi Arabia and Malaysia, Betsy’s work reflects a myriad of techniques and influences, as well as her own sense of wonder at the richness and variety of human art and culture.

Currently, Betsy is based in Sonoma County, where she is able to spend time with her family, as well as draw constant inspiration from the stunning Northern California beaches, vineyards and forests. When she is not in her studio making jewelry, Betsy loves hiking, camping, reading, and making wands, fairy houses for her garden, and other craft projects with her granddaughters.
